Dispensing Nurse RN Position

Description

The Dispensing Nurse is responsible for dispensing any medications the clinic may utilize in the treatment of patients; this includes methadone, Suboxone, and Subutex. This candidate will work with the Nurse Practitioner, Medical Director, and Clinical Program Administrator to assure appropriate medical care of patients.  This is part-time position and will require 25 - 30 hours /week commitment with excellent compensation.  Candidate must be able to work early morning hours 5am-10am and available to work some Sundays 7am – 10am.  Additionally, candidates must be able to pass a credit check, background check and drug screening. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Employee is expected to perform all duties in accordance to work schedule.

  • Sets up for dispensing of medication and dispenses medication.

  • Monitors medication inventory and reports to Nurse Practitioner.

  • Reconciles inventory of methadone, Suboxone, and Subutex at conclusion of dosing.

  • Prints daily reports.

  • Signs and processes physician orders.

  • Enters notes in Methasoft and inputs flags as per physician orders.

  • Processes dose changes and puts notes in systems.

  • Processes phase change requests.

  • Documents “no-shows” in system.

  • Coordinates guest medication.

  • Collects UDS as needed.

  • Monitors vital signs for dose changes.

  • Files appropriate paperwork.

  • Calibrates Methadone pump.

  • Prints, signs and files monthly medication record.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • 1 year experience as a RN or LPN in medication assisted treatment in an opiate treatment setting.

  • CPR certified within 3 months of hire.

  • Must pass a criminal background check.

 

Education Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Licensed with the state of Maryland as RN or LPN.
